Something strange is glowing in the dark.

For Day 13 of 31 Days of Halloween, Syracuse artist Charlie Sam steps out from behind the canvas and into two of his own creations. Part fire, part feather, and entirely otherworldly, these handmade masks take on a life of their own when the black lights come on.

Two faces. Two creatures. With a side dish of a little ultraviolet magic. Who says the monsters can’t make themselves?
